The secret to long lasting perfumes have been a bone of contention for a long time since the discovery of mixed fragrances. People have been asked to look for certain ingredients while shopping such as resin, wood and musk.

But what happens when these ingredients are barely found in perfumes from our local stores. How do we navigate the day staying supple and fresh? We reached out to a perfume aficionado over the past weekend and she had somethings to say.

Blossom has been in the perfume business for over five years and has experimented with a lot of scents. She even owns a store of her own where she sells these products ranging from eau de toilette to eau de parfum.

To ease your curious minds, eau de parfum has a higher concentration of perfume essence than eau de toilette which on it’s own is subtle and fresh.

Reen: What is the right way to wear perfumes?

Blossom: The right way to wear perfumes is by wearing them on your pulse points.
Your pulse points can be at the back of your ear, on your neck, on your wrist, between your elbow, on your navel etc.
But it’s best and advisable to wear perfume oils on your pulse points rather than just perfumes. Perfumes are best worn on wears but if you don’t have a sensitive skin, you can wear them directly on your skin.
Wearing scents on your pulse points increase the longevity of the products.

R: What are the best long lasting perfumes you have used so far?

B: The best long lasting perfumes are products from Fragrance Avenue.
This brand has a lot of variants of long lasting scents from my observation.
So any product from them can last 8+ hours depending on your skin type or the weather or usage.

R: What long lasting perfumes can the average Nigerian afford without having to break the bank?

B: Miniature products. If you need products that are long lasting and pocket friendly go for minature perfume products.
You can find ophylia legend, berries weekend etc in 25-50ml. Their prices are around N2,500-N4,000 depending on their mls. When you layer them rightly you can announce your presence without having to break the bank.

R: What type of perfumes can you not add to your collection?

B: I can’t disclose their names, yes, there are some products that aren’t worth their hype but they can help project a better product.
Like they’re best worn with other products to boost its longevity.

R: In an ascending order can you list the best perfumes you have come across so far?

B: Like I said earlier, I’ve not accessed much perfume products. I’m still in a discovery journey but I can recommend products I’ve sold to my customers that they love.
1. Choco musk.
2. Lattafa products.
3. Berries weekend. (Pink edition)
4. Ophylia legend
5. Mosuf products

After sharing her products, we couldn’t help but ask if she has any future plans to someday own her own line of scents.

B: I’ve never had this thought though until you asked. Right now, my answer is No.
I don’t have any plans on having my own line of scents but you know how life can be. Probably I might change my mind in the future but for now, I’ll stick to selling other brands’ products.
